PIA Pilots Report Seeing UFO Over Karachi, Pakistan (2021)

On January 23, 2021, around 4 PM, PIA pilots spotted a bright UFO while flying at 35 000 ft from Karachi to Lahore in an Airbus A321 (flight PK304). The object was unusually bright even in daylight, had a metal ring around it, and emitted a brilliant light. One of the pilots filmed it, and locals also captured footage.

A PIA spokesperson confirmed the sighting, stating that the pilot promptly reported the encounter to the control room. While the exact nature of the object remains unclear, the incident was documented according to standard procedures. This sighting adds to the history of UFO reports in Pakistan, including a similar event reported by PIA pilots in Karachi in January 2019.

Interestingly, the sighting has drawn comparisons to "foo fighters," a term used during World War II to describe unexplained aerial phenomena reported by pilots. These foo fighters were mysterious, bright objects that seemed to follow or maneuver around aircraft, and their exact nature remains unresolved to this day.

Adding to the intrigue, a spokesman for the Pakistan Meteorological Department, Khalid Malik, explained that their weather balloons come in two types: one capable of reaching altitudes of 6,000 to 7,000 feet, and another, known as Radiosondes, that can reach up to 70,000 feet. However, the Met Department has recently stopped using Radiosondes. Jawad Memon, from Doppler Karachi.pk, also ruled out the possibility of the object being a weather balloon, noting that Radiosondes are made of rubber, while the object in the video appeared metallic or glass-like.

This isn’t the first UFO sighting reported in Pakistan. In January 2019, PIA pilots encountered a similar incident in Karachi. During that event, the flight crew observed a UFO hovering just 105 feet above their aircraft, which was flying at an altitude of 2,500 feet.

The sighting of the bright, unidentified flying object over Rahim Yar Khan on January 23, 2021, remains an intriguing and mysterious event. Despite the pilot's detailed report and the corroboration from local witnesses, the exact nature of the object remains unresolved.
